| С постройки Московско-Казанская ж. д. (депо Муром, Сергач, Казань) В 1929 г. в топке паровоза Эш.4041 Московско-Казанской железной дороги были установлены два термосифона для проверки их эффективности. В этот период на дорогах США работало несколько тысяч паровозов, оборудованных термосифонами, и по рекламным сообщениям технических журналов данные устройства якобы значительно повышали коэффициент полезного действия котла. При испытаниях же паровоза Эш.4041 было выявлено, что коэффициент полезного действия котла при термосифонах увеличился всего на 1 %, но в то же время температура перегретого пара снизилась в среднем на 25°С, а влажность пара возросла на 2 — 3 %. Опыт эксплуатации также не подтвердил преимущества термосифонов; паровоз Эш.4041 расходовал такое же количество топлива, как и работавший с ним в одинаковых условиях паровоз Эш.4027, не имевший термосифонов.
