A welcome VL10U among the masses of 2ES6's in northern Kazakhstan. We spent a few hours in the afternoon lineside with all trains bar this one being 2ES6 hauled, however it was still nice seeing this interesting RZD line in Kazakhstan.

I got grabbed trying to take a photo of this by the old guy sat on a chair nearby))

The photo happened without much planning, as for editing I tried to make it look more or less how it was at the time. I would best describe it as a foggy landscape with a train not a train in a foggy landscape))

Alexander, I wasn't sure if the photo would be accepted in all honesty, I quite like how it came out with the landscape and fog, as that what the photo is, a landscape with a train. Personally I quite like landscape photos but as with all photography it's subjective. I agree maybe a category that matches this style is needed).

I will say the photo wasn't really planned out, I was taken by surprise more or less if I remember correctly so I made the best out of it. Still I am quite happy with how it shows the Mongolian landscape and weather. Again, personal taste))

We left Ulaanbaatar around 0630 in the early morning sunshine and as we hitchhiked our way to Bayan the fog got thicker and thicker. This meant that the first train of the day, a sleeper train emerged out of the fog and vanished again rather quickly. Something that can't be heard in a photo is the eerie sounds of distant trains!

Making a change from the long and heavy trains that had been passing all morning this TEM18 certainly seemed a lot quieter climbing up to Bumbat with 4 wagons in tow. The great thing about the curve here is you can photo the train twice as it gains height. I first photo'd it here https://vk.com/id409358253?z=photo409358...0%2Frev whilst a cloud was causing problems, but a quick run uphill I was able to great it again in sunny conditions. The loco crew seemed quite amused by this))

To this place I went by Bus XO 5 from the east side of Ulaanbaatar (Stop near Tenger Plaza). It runs on the main road then you just walk 3-4km to the spot. Other days I hitchhiked, feel free to message me if you ever need directions)

The second full day in Mongolia for us had a good forecast so we headed to Khonhor to a wonderful curve to spend the day catching trains twisting and turning through the landscape. The first train seen in the spot was an early numbered 2TE25KM coasting down the curve with a coal train, headed for Ulaanbaatar power stations. The loco crew were happy to greet us!
