They would be classed as Bi-mode multiple units or (BMU) if I remember correctly. You can also get trains that are Electric overhead and battery powered which would come under the same category.

It's an interesting thought, but I have some doubts. BMU, in fact, is the same thing with diesel-EMU, just in other words. I'm not sure, to make different types according to differences of national classifies makes sense. About trains with electric overhead and batteries, I think, it's an EMU too: in fact, they have electric power in any case, but only from different sourses

Yes what you are saying makes sense. Just in the UK we have a special class for such train separate from EMU for some reason haha. I am not the expert on all of these new types of trains as they aren't so interesting)).
