This (the second) Barreiro station building built in 1884 and abandoned in 2008. Unofficially called "Barreiro-Mar" (eng. "Barreiro-Sea"), due to a not completed project from the 1930s of a different station called "Barreiro-Terra" ("Barreiro-Land") around the location where Barreiro-A is now.

Before closure it had 4 tracks (two of which entered the building hall). The station was terminal for many train routes to the south of Portugal (including Faro and Evora). It served as Lisbon’s main train station for routes to the south, before rail traffic was opened over the 25th April Bridge in 1999.
In 2018 process began to classify this building as a monument, but till 2024 it is not (yet) done.

The first Barreiro station (which now houses CP workshops) was built in 1861 and is located around 500 meters earlier on the line.

The third (and current) Barreiro station was built in 2008 and is located around 100m to the left (from this photo), closer to the current ferry and bus terminal, forming the "Terminal Rodo-Ferro-Fluvial do Barreiro" ("Road-Rail-River terminal of Barreiro" or just "Terminal"). It currently services only the Sado line (Barreiro-Pinhal Novo-Setubal-Praias do Sado-A). During the reconstruction and modernization of the line it received new stations (for example, Barreiro-A) while all existing station got rebuilt. The Barreiro station was the only one that got moved so far from it's original location (of the second station).
