С завода поступил в депо Харьков "Октябрь".
хх.1972 — передан в депо Куйбышев.
На 11.2005 работал в сплотке с ЧС2-795.
После МЛП в 2006 г. передан в депо Ожерелье

Примечательно, но в настоящий момент (2012 г.) в ТЧЭ-10 Самара находится тренажёр на собственных осях с маркировкой ЧС2-461 (заменивший собой ЧС2-361), о чем свидетельствует надпись у кнопки "РБС" внутри кабины № 1. Табличка о дате постройки с номере кузова снята, а кузов перекрашен без нанесения опознавательной информации. Дата "липовой" отправки будущей машины ЧС2К-461 на МЛП практичеки совпадает с перестановкой тренажёров в ТЧ Самара. Возможно ЧС2К-461 это прежний ЧС2-361 с продлённым сроком эксплуатации.
